San Mateo, California Parent Participation Nursery School: Bunker Hill Nursery School
Bunker Hill Nursery School

Classes

Our classes follow a routine which includes free play time both indoors and outdoors, circle time for music and stories, and a snack time. There is a balance of individual and group play, of quiet and active play. A challenging variety of activities is offered each day for the uniqueness of each child. Our program is multi-cultural and promotes sharing our diverse heritage.

Each class curriculum is age appropriate and is developed and overseen by a credentialed teacher. A maximum 4:1 child/adult ratio is maintained in each class.

How Parents Participate

Parents work together with the teacher each day to care for a maximum class size of 20 children. Each parent is assigned a specific area or activity to supervise.

In Addition:
  • Parents are also required to attend a monthly membership meeting from 7:00-10:00 pm on the third Wednesday of each month. After a brief business meeting, parent education topics are addressed by guest speakers or in-house staff.
  • Members participate in fundraising and school maintenance.
  • Members need to provide current health and emergency information. Our working parents are required to have a current TB test.
Of special note, we provide an on-site babysitting option for participating parents with younger siblings.
We offer a balance of individual and group play, of quiet and active play

"Working in the classroom allows me to really get to know the teacher as well as the other parents – something I couldn't do in another preschool setting."
